Description

L-1011

The Lockheed L-1011 TriStar 500 is a medium to long range, widebody trijet that flew onto the scene in 1978. It was a shortened version of the standard variants, by around 14 feet, which meant it carried less passengers, but it offered more fuel capacity, greater takeoff weight, and a maximum range of 6100 nautical miles (11,260km). It was Lockheed’s only commercial passenger jet. The L-1011 was celebrated for its many achievements including its reliability, ease of maintenance, profitability and being the quietest and most technologically advanced aircraft produced. Production for the -500 ended in 1983 after only 50 had been built..

H2: HZ-AB1

Our plane was built in 1983, then registered as JY-HKJ, and served as the private jet for the King of Jordan and the Jordanian Government. In late 2001, it was purchased by Al Anwa Aviation to fly Prince Abdul Aziz Al Ibrahim and was reregistered as HZ-AB1. The Prince, known as a globe-trotter in pursuit of pleasure, had the interior and exterior renovated, transforming the plane into a majestic, flying palace. AB1 was furnished with everything needed to provide the Prince and his guests with the comfort and extravagance they were accustomed to, including being covered in authentic 23k gold leaf.

HZ-AB1 was withdrawn from use in 2013 and stored until recovered in 2021. MotoArt produced our first ever authentic gold PlaneTags, and our thickest, heaviest - and most beautiful - PlaneTags to date. It also gave us the opportunity to create an incredible aviation display from the fuselage frame structure.

For the PlaneTags collector who wants to soar to the next level

You love your PlaneTags and you’ll love them even more when they are displayed on an actual fuselage frame structure from a L-1011 Tristar. Our newest PlaneTags Display Racks are the perfect way to show off your collection and rearrange or add new PlaneTags easily.

Like PlaneTags themselves, each display rack is unique, bearing the scars from their years of service, and the imperfections which are worn with honor. The display itself has its own story to tell, further adding to the history of your PlaneTags collection.

A labor of love

Each display rack is a view into a world usually only seen by engineers and mechanics. The fuselage represents the talent of hundreds of engineers who worked to design a strong - and rather beautiful - technically advanced aircraft that is just as stunning behind the scenes. The lightening holes, rivets and original fuselage paint are a visual treat, but the real excitement will be seeing your treasured PlaneTags collection arranged on the hand cut, custom pegs displayed on your wall.

Our PlaneTag Display Rack Features:

  • Authentic fuselage frame structure
  • Smooth, rounded edges
  • Quality brass fittings and custom pegs made in-house

DISCLAIMER

*Important Notice – Please Read Carefully

PlaneTag Display Racks are:

  • Authentic - made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal.
  • Unique -  each PlaneTags Rack bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags Racks. These variations and imperfections are not product flaws. They are part of the beauty of PlaneTags Racks. As a result, you will not have an option to select the color of your PlaneTags Rack. The images on this website are provided for reference only and should not be used as the sole basis for choosing a particular PlaneTags Rack.

There's No Better Way to Display Your Collection

As I began to add more tags to my collection, it became more difficult to find a way to display them. This rack is not only beautiful, but has meaning, too. It's awesome to be able to use a piece of an iconic airplane to display my tag collection!

    L-1011 Tristar Rack HZ-AB1

This Rack is really fantastic! In my opinion, much better than the 757 rack (bought one via a German merchant) and the patina more pleasing than that of the 757 rack. I purchased this rack to complement the L-1011 tags I have to date. They are more expensive than the 757 racks but at the same time, somehow more pleasing to the eye. Furthermore, compare the 1,050 757's built to the "mere" 250 L-1011's built. I personally never flew with an L-1011, but in my opinion, it was a more elegant-looking aircraft than the DC-10, the second engine which always looked like an add-on compared to the beautifully integrated 2nd engine of the L-1011. Like I already mentioned in my review for the L-1011 tags, there is only ONE remaining L-1011 worldwide still flying. It is based at Mojave Airport and operated by Northrop Grumman as the "Stargazer". Saw it myself in January 2019, and was surprised to see an operational L-1011. To conclude, I can only recommend this rack!

L1011 tristar 20 planetags display rack

I have ordered a number of motoart planetags. Focusing on the military plane tags, but the most awesome gift my wife got me for my birthday was the L1011 tristar display rack. Just the history of that airplane alone is worth the money spent on the rack. Lockheed only made 250 L1011 tristar’s and to date only one is still in service today. The rack is beautiful and it alone is a piece of art. Add your tags to it and now you have conversation piece that speaks for itself! The rack came incredibly wrapped very well and it absolutely will protect your rack. I highly recommend purchasing this piece of history before they are gone forever.

L1011 tristar 20 plane tag holder

If you are thinking about getting the L1011 plane tag holder DON’T HESITATE. My wife purchased the 20 tag holder and it looks amazing holding my military plane and helicopters-tags. The tag holder is as unique as the tags themselves, due to the fact that Lockheed only made 250, L1011 Tristar. Moro Art really has an eye for finding the characteristics of the part of that fuselage that would really pop where ever your going to display it. Thanks Moto Art you really know how to share some of aviation’s greatest airplanes with us, that other wise we would never be able see, own, touch, without being in a museum.
